Operation Profile #1

Wine Recommendations

We publish only reviews of wines we believe to be excellent to exceptional quality within basic price categories for their respective types. Price categories are: Low, Medium, High, Expensive, and Very Expensive. Only 15%-20% of all the wines we taste for each issue make the cut (about the same percentage given medals in major wine competitions)—and 80% to 85% do not.

In this issue, we recommend 171 wines from 6 countries, including several that are among the top versions of these wines we’ve ever tasted from specific wineries (including Adelaida, Beckmen, Buena Vista, Fort Ross Winery, Mazzocco, Ramey, Silverado Vineyards, Stuhlmuller in the USA; and imported wines from Henry’s Drive, MontGras, Pieropan, and Terrabianca).

The majority of the recommended wines sell for less than $200/case wholesale ($25 per bottle full retail). Nineteen Chardonnays from the USA are included, as well as outstanding new release Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, Syrahs, Pinot Noirs, and Zinfandels from the USA. We also highlight top value red wines from Argentina, Australia, Chile, France, and Italy, all of them of excellent quality.
